    I considered Mike Hawking today

My wife and I test drove a Tesla Model 3 Long Range.

I will admit it was a ton more fun to drive than I imagined it would be. My wife was ready to order one today but I am not going to buy another vehicle this year. I can say that the odds of us going EV definitely improved today.

They do handle surprisingly good for what they are, they're just so incredibly boring inside and out.

The dash is visibly boring and I do not like looking over to my right to see my speedometer or gas (well battery) guage. That part is weird but on the other hand I have always liked a simplistic, uncluttered interior.

It isn't a dream car, I mean if I was able to choose between this and an AMG MB or a BMW Mwhatever the Tesla 3 would get bounced.

But for my wife who works only 4 miles from home, this is a strong contender

I am waiting on my cousin to finish his current customer's car then mine will go next. The goal is to be able to have it in his body shop by Thanksgiving. We will see.

No idea what fsd and power boost is but if it isn't on the one we drove today I wouldn't pay extra for it. The only thing I would change would be the wheels. The ones on the car we drove were God awful ugly.

Full Self Drive so you can nap during traffic.

Power boost unlocks a bunch of horsepower. Performance gets out of the hole better inside 60' but the long range with power boost runs neck and neck with performance model after 40mph

FSD = Full self driving, either $10k outright or $200 a month subscription. It's still in beta. Don't waste your money. Standard lane keep and adaptive cruise is good enough.

Power boost = $2k upgrade to get you to sub 4 second 0-60 and low 12 second in the 1/4.

Both upgrades can be added after purchase if you change your mind.

Ugly wheels = those are hubcaps. You can take them off and the 5 split spoke wheel underneath is pretty nice. You'll lose a bit of range though with the aero covers off.

On the used market, FSD does not equal 10k additional so its a deal there.

We haven't. Saturdays are pretty busy at their store and didn't feel like dealing with it.

Are there better interior choices? I keep seeing them all in white and I hate white interiors.

I suggest checking out Model 3 SR+, especially if it will be mainly her car. It's $10k cheaper than the long range and still plenty fast, 5.3s 0-60 iirc.

I plan on driving one before/if we order. With the short commute she has I think the SR would be just fine.
