Anthony, since you're looking into "older" exotics like the 360 and F430, have you considered 1st and updated 1st gen R8s? At about $100k you could easily find a lower mile later model V8 R8 or an earlier model decent mileage V10 R8. Just a thought, not sure if they do anything for you or not.

Gotcha, wasn't sure since I hadn't seen you mention them, apologies if you had already.

No need to apologize. It’s a very good suggestion.

I bet that car would be in the 30s private party, and then you are talking very fair price.
That description in the ad is totally suspect. I have a feeling you could drop 30 to get the car and then another who knows how much to restore it to how it should be.

Plus with the actual mileage being unknown I would be really hesitant.

We talking about the same car? The one on BaT?

The odometer / speedometer fails in these cars commonly. If I remember correctly, that car had records to back up the mileage.

I’m seriously considering two cars right now…

    2004 Ferrari 360
    https://www.europeanexoticcenter.com...fl-id-43621541

    Pros:
-LOVE THE SPEC. Literally exactly how I would do it if I could pick my options
-From a very reputable dealer with a master Ferrari mechanic on site

    Cons
-Seeing the car would be a hassle
-Price. I’d like to be in at $90k, which I think is fair. They have the car listed on eBay with no bids at $90k…
    -Maintenance costs

    2007 911 Turbo
    https://www.porschenorwell.com/used/...db10c3afeb.htm

    Pros
-Unique color that I really love
    -Reliability and maintenance costs
-Tons of Porsche focused garages in my area. This may be a wash, thorough, because there are also a few really good Ferrari mechanics in my area as well.
    -Performance
-Car is five minutes from my wife’s family, so I could get eyes on it and then decide if I want to move forward. I could also easily go check it out myself.
-Being offered by a Porsche dealer

    Cons
-Price. But this may actually be decent in this market.

The Porsche dealer also has this black/black at $94k.
    https://www.porschenorwell.com/used/...aign=911+Turbo

Less miles, but less interesting color combo. I still like black/black though.

    I think I decided

Just got off the phone with the Porsche dealer. I’m going to set up a PPI.

Coincidentally, I forgot my wife is heading up to Boston Monday, so if this works out I’m going to go with her. I’d love to see the car before buying.

I would never buy a car that old for that much money without at the very least driving it myself.

I was going to say, if it was me, I'd be buying that Porsche for a host of reasons. I could see you being happy with the Ferrari (automatic, spec'd as you'd want), but the Porsche will be faster, 6spd, all-wheel drive, and being sold by an actual dealership. Here's hoping it works out!

Yea I mean the Ferrari would be cool af. But looking at more and more service records and seeing more and more $10-15k bills, I started getting cold feet. It’s one thing to be okay with it as a hypothetical, but it’s another thing when you’re hit with that bill.

As you can all clearly see, I’m an anxious little fuck. This car is supposed to make me less anxious, not add to it.

That blue 911 is really nice btw. Not a fan of gray leather, but it wouldn’t be a dealbreaker.

A 15 year old really expensive car that you don’t know how to drive? Sounds like the perfect recipe for massive anxiety.

I’m typically not either, but I think it works really well on that car. I saw a few with brown leather, which I typically love, and it’s just a bit too much. Either way, the interior wouldn’t be a dealbreaker for me either.

The black/black is really nice but a bit boring. Still wouldn’t be opposed to it, but I’m focused on the blue. It’s a garners attention without being gaudy.

The Porsche is nice, but $15k over the same I linked from FB with similar miles. Who knows the history though. I get you'd rather buy from a dealer, but for a 20% premium? Seems high. Or maybe you just didn't like that one, but I thought it looked great. I guess I'd get not wanting a modded car, too though.

PA doesn't require a front plate right? The one on the 997 ruins the front of the car to me, but I hate even commuter cars with front plates

    Not a bad deal

The dealer with the blue also has the black one I posted. Three owner car, 50k miles, asking $94k. I could probably get it right around $88-89k.

I’m perusing older auctions to see what’s sold. I don’t think the blue one I like is a screaming deal with 55k miles and 8 owners, but I’m still very interested. Just keeps me more disciplined on my price. It’s certainly not a $99,999 car, but I’d be happy at $92-93k

If I wasn’t being such a cuck to my anxiety and indecisiveness last week, I would have strongly considered this one:

    https://www.pcarmarket.com/auction/1...turbo-6-speed/

I’m kinda using that as a benchmark. With buyer fees, the car sold for $100,800.

I mean, you could probably use a 16k mile car that sold for $100k as a pretty good basis for an offer on the blue one. IMO, that puts the blue car at around 90 max if not a little less.

You got me checking out the black one at the dealer again. Just based on the Carfax, it may be the better option, actually.

Or put 90k down and buy a GT3 and make payments on the remaining balance

Historically, yes. But they’re beginning to become more appreciated.

So that means they will probably be highly sought after in 5-10 years.

Porsche Norwell has a good rep.

I'd take a GT car over a Turbo, but that's me. The Turbo will be a better street car in general.

You'll pay a premium at a dealer, but that may be worth piece of mind.

This damn thread has me looking all over the place.

It’s a great car, but I’m very uncomfortable buying at auction from across the country.

They’ve been pretty nice to work with so far, and their pricing is decent for a dealer. What are your thoughts between the blue and black one they have?

A little more than you want to spend and not local but solid car.

Prior CPO- may be a solid value.

Edited because I pulled the wrong link for the second.

Any thoughts on getting a 13+ for ~$60-70K and seeing how you like/how much you drive it for a few years?
