So after really looking at this car and asking on a BMW page it appears this car might be lowered from the previous owner which has me wondering what else they could have done. I know the exhaust is stock and I know the airboxes are stock but I am wondering if it has been tuned because this thing is hitting around 25 pounds of boost or so. I can not find what the stock boost level for one of these things is supposed to be anywhere but I would have assumed it would be no more than around 20.

Well... time to gut it and replace everything so you know exactly what is in there. And if you're doing that, no need in keeping it stock. Let the games begin.

Sounds like a perfect excuse for some dyno pulls... and additional tuning.

I'm actually going to start really looking around at it and see if I can see anything else that's been done. I guess I could run it by BMW and see if it has been tuned but then my car would be flagged. If I can find the stock boost level somewhere online I can compare it to mine and see but mine is definitely hitting 25 or so and that seems high to me to be stock.

    Will this help:

The folks at Car & Driver have set out to find out the real power output of the BMW M5 Competition’s engine. It’s widely known that BMW often underrates their engines and the latest BMW turbo units have put out figures past the official numbers. Code name S63B44T4, the twin-scroll turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 has 25.9 psi at max boost. BMW rates the base engine at 600 horsepower and the Competition model’s at 617 horsepower—at the crankshaft—with both making 553 lb-ft of torque.

This car will never see rain, even if it does those filters have some kind of water proofing seal on them to keep water from getting in there. I talked to one guy in Houston who said he has driven his in heavy downpours with no issues but like I said this is a fair weather only 1000 miles a year car for me.

If the filters are oiled in the first place, it will repel some water by nature.

True, I think they also have some kind of seal somehow, I'll have to go read up on it.

So I took this thing out this weekend and played around a little and activated launch control so I would know how it works when I go the track in a few weeks, it was cool but not cold out and it spun all four tires. All of the tire temps were in the mid to upper 70s and I figured that would be warm enough but it spun all four so bad I let out of it after a couple of seconds.
