But there is no reason why a v8 upgrade should be a 30k option (Rubicon msrp 44k to rubicon 392 msrp 74k)
I've said it before, but if Jeep would just offer a 5.7 Hemi option in any wrangler configuration and price it at 5-7k, it'd meet the needs of 95% of jeep owners wants.

Its funny I own a 2500 Ram with the 6.4 and a Challenger Scat Pack with the 6.4.

Besides being a bad ass motor , there is nothing more special about it over the 5.7 besides just a bigger engine. And from what I understand the 5.7 has a stronger bottom end than the 6.4....

I agree 100% and would have gotten the 5.7l had it been an option. A detuned 5.7l made to run on 87 octane would be the perfect combination for a Jeep. I got the 392 bc I wanted a V8 and it was all that was offered, but a 5.7l is a better choice.

The metal bumpers weren’t an option. It’s standard on a 392. I passed on one 392 bc it had the sky one touch. I do not like those at all.

The beancounter in me needs to ask why you didn’t just record a v8 on a cassette tape instead?

I put a Mopar metal bumper on my wife’s jeep this year. Not a big fan of the sky touch, but I did get her a sunrider. She loves it.

    Awesome!

Picked up my girl’s 2019 Moab last June for $38k with only 11k miles. Every single option including the sky one touch. Flew to Ny in the middle of the shutdown and bought it from a Dr lol. I often joke with her to sell it for a profit and get the 392.

Motobilt is my favorite one right now:

Only thing I don't like is it comes bare steel. Poison Spyder makes a really nice one, but I've heard quite a few complaints about their fitment issues and lack of customer support.

Great looking Jeep, Dan. Congrats I was pleased to read you're keeping the wheels/tires from the previous Jeep, they look great.

Don't like shorty bumpers or shorty fenders. The factory steel Rubicon bumper is a great looking bumper IMO. We put the Mopar bull bar on too.

That would be ironic considering I just did that to his MOM.

I agree for a truck application, the 5.7L is a solid choice as it produces its power in the lower and mid-range. The 6.4L is overkill. Even though, if going as fast as possible is the goal, 6.4L all day long over the 5.7L.

Dont get me wrong I think it's cool of Jeep to offer a balls out version with the 392 and all of the suspension add-ons and all of that. Just, for most people, all they want is a 5.7 in their every day 2 door sport or 4 door sahara so they can burn some more fuel on their way to the grocery store and crawling over curbs at walgreens.

We just got down to Hilton Head, SC (outside of Savannah, GA) and I racked up another 300+ miles on it for a whopping 444 miles. It gets around 300-320 miles on a tank, but I haven't pushed it. Decided I'd take the safe route and fill it up at half a tank. It did that in around 160 miles.

This thing is amusingly over powered. In a word, it's effortless. Even when I simply tried to ease into it, what I think is easing into, it's like "fine, let's roll BAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!"

Really fun. I have only gotten on it from a stop once or twice, but nothing WOT from a stop yet. I'll do that once I break 500 miles. So far though, I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I'm really liking the adaptive cruise control on it. I heard it didn't work all that great on the Jeeps, but I'm not seeing any issues w/ it... except when a vehicle moves out of the way and it goes to resume. It downshifts a few gears and takes off to get back to the set speed.

A pic from this evening when we got in. I thought it looked cool w/ the moss in the background.

I'll get an engine bay pic tomorrow. It looks sooooo much better underneath the hood than the V6. The V6 seemingly took up more room. It certainly wasn't nearly as neat. While the 6.4 takes up a lot of room, it is very nicely laid out and isn't a big mess.

I'm not sure what I'll put on the hood. The RUBICON is coming off though. HEMICON has been used numerous times and I'm not going that route. HEMIDAN is a pretty good idea though.

Beaufort? He is the same distance from there as he is from Savannah. He needs to go to Savannah then eat at the Old Pinke House.

Where we're staying is 22 miles from that restaurant.

How dressy is this place? I brought nothing all that nice to wear as we weren't planning on going to a fine dining place.

    We ate here last night:

    Not bad. Good seafood.

You can get away with jeans and a polo/ collared shirt there. Its slightly more upscale, but not suit jacket upscale.

Beaufort is cool if you like "off the beaten path" type places. Wife is from there. Love Savannah as well.

Went to both today. Cool towns. We didn't get a chance to do the ghost tours, but whenever we come back, we will look into doing that. The river street was a neat area... the old cobblestone, etc.

Jeep hit 500 miles today. I've started abusing it and it's fun. It'll have around 1k miles on it by the time we get home tomorrow.

    Just caught this thread.

    Nice upgrade.

If you like Savannah, make sure you go to Wilmington and/or Charleston at some point.

And Asheville is like a mountain version of those places.

What did the dealer say about the “Rubidan” decal?

We’ve been to Charleston, but only briefly. We took a carriage ride through there and had something to eat. I’d like to go back and spend a few days there in an Airbnb.

We have extended family in Asheville and have spent a good bit of time there. Great area and the Biltmore estate is really cool.

He had a big day today. After walking for miles in Savannah, we came back to Hilton Head and got on the beach. He proceeded to dig his way to China. After that, we all walked the beach for a while. Now, he's passed slam out for the rest of the evening.

The Jeep looks awesome. Love all the pics. I bought my first Jeep in July. It's a 2021 JL 2 door Sport, with the 6M. So fun to drive. I understand now why all the used Wranglers have so many miles on them.
