You’re not “that guy” with auctions where you bid 20% of approximate value and is then shocked when you’re outbid, are you?

    Surprised I was outbid?

    No

But to be the opening bidder and immediately get bumped for over $100k took me by surprise

I mean, I know what these things go for, but damn that escalated quickly

Bidder also picked up a 97 Supra for $138k last month

The only people that bid the way you did are people looking for a deal. The people that really want to win will bid high quickly and hopefully scare away bidders like you.

I agree, although the other strategy I see with online auctions is the serious bidders coming in only at the very end and easily pushing aside all of the tire kickers and dreamers looking for a steal.

I bid $5,000 on it. I’m shocked it’s so high!

Does the same person write all the listings on BAT? I don't get it. Other than the specifics, they are written verbatim. "Power is sent to the rear wheels via...." WTF writes like that.

It's a service, so all the listings are written to a standard as are the pictures they take.

That 300ZX is nice, I'm not crazy about the yellow but that car is sweet. I can remember the my first time seeing one, it was at the Auto Show in New Orleans just before they hit the market. My parents were in the market for a new car so we went to the Auto Show and my first impression upon seeing the new Z was how "exotic" it looked For me, it was like seeing a Lambo or Ferrari and really left an impression and I'll never forget that moment.

I was cleaning out my childhood bedroom over Christmas break, and I found a bunch of pictures from the 2004 Philly auto show. Talk about nostalgia.

The way they phrase things gives me a chuckle too. So pretentious. But that's the clientele they're looking to attract these days with their auctions.

funny you mention lambo. Diablo used the headlights from the 300zx.

I'd love to build one but like everything else, the values have shot up, and finding one that's not a rust pit is challenging.

My dad was between a 240z and a 914 back in '74. He bought the 914. But I really liked the Z. Great looking interior for that era. Much better than the Porsche IMO.

    My dad had a 240z then a 260z.

He always said the 240 was better.

    I sent him these.

I'm not sure how I feel about this one. A ton of work went into it, and it appears to be very well done. I love that you get modern amenities and creature comforts with the old school look. Just not 100% on the looks since you can still see the new tahoe lines. I'd have to see it in person.

I agree, the dimensions are a little odd, but overall it's cool. No way I'd pay what it will ultimately sell for, but the work itself looks top notch.

Does that have a ton of rust on it or is that just a bad pic?

250 miles in 17 years. Yeah, it definitely needed servicing. Sitting for that long is terrible for cars.
